7 Steps to start your home buying process

  • Step 1: Start educating yourself. Start looking at the housing market and familiarize yourself with the pricing and speed of which the available homes sell. Research the financial part of it and what that will take to get you started on your path to home ownership.
  • Step 2: Get your financials in order. Start looking over your financial standings like debt and credit scores. Stop making large purchases like a new car and maybe even pay off a little debt to get a better score.
  • Step 3: What will be your budget? Outline a budget with a home payment that is comfortable for you to live with and enables you with some wiggle room in your budget.
  • Step 4: Get Financially Pre-Approved. Contact a lender for a loan pre-approval to get a confirmation on how much you can afford to spend. I have excellent lender resources that will be happy to speak with you free of charge of course, with no obligation.
  • Step 5: What Kind of Home to Buy? Create a list of home features and necessities you would like to have in your home.
